Mile Square is a classic muni-track.  It offers 36 mostly straight, very flat holes that require very little shot making skill or imagination.  It's a fairly good place to take a friend or client who only plays a few times per year as there are no homes to hit and few chances to lose balls.  It's an exceptional place to play in Orange County on a Friday (relatively low green fees) and is a pretty good place to walk (for those of us who still like to do so).

The newer of the tracks, The Players Course, is relatively wide open with the exception of a few lakes that can come into play.  I must admit that the course is very well maintained but the greens are definitely on the slow side.  Without a doubt, the most memorable features on this course are the foxes that run up and down the fairways.  At just over 6,700 yards from the blues, it is by no means a piece of cake for the short hitter but the "long and wild" golfers will hit a lot of short iron approaches.

Hey Foxy, what do you think about golf at Mile Square?

Although it's been several years since I played the "Classic" course, I remember it as being a tougher test than the "Players."  Both courses are roughly the same length but the fairways on the Classic were lined with mature trees thus adding some danger for the errant tee shot.  This course underwent a major renovation in Late 2001/Early 2002 so it's probably worth another review.  Green fees are cheaper on The Classic and I'm not certain The Players is worth the extra money.

Please note that the url listed above is printed on Mile Square's scorecard but I have yet to connect to it successfully.  I try to use websites to keep the green fees as up to date as possible so I don't have them posted at this time.  Expect to pay somewhere around $30 on the weekday and up to $60 on the weekend (to walk, carts will be extra).
